Super typhoon Bavi approaches U.S. Pacific territories

Super Typhoon Bavi is currently moving west toward the Marshall Islands, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. According to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), the storm has reached Category 5 intensity, packing sustained winds of 259 kilometers per hour with gusts up to 314 kilometers per hour. Residents in Saipan and other areas are stocking up on fuel, water, non-perishable food, and construction materials to reinforce their homes. While the system is expected to weaken slightly, it is projected to make landfall on Monday morning. The region is still recovering from the impact of Typhoon Sinlaku, which struck in April and caused widespread power outages and structural damage. Local authorities have issued warnings, urging the population to prepare for severe tropical conditions.
