Ukrainian drone attacks target energy infrastructure in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region

Overnight on Saturday, authorities reported a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack targeting St. Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad region. Regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko stated that drones struck the port of Vysotsk, located 170 km northwest of St. Petersburg, while Governor Alexander Beglov confirmed an attack on an oil terminal in the city. Russian officials claimed that 72 drones were shot down over the Leningrad region with no reported casualties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that defense forces hit oil infrastructure and the naval base in Kronstadt, although Russian officials did not confirm any damage to the latter. Further strikes were reported in the Bryansk region and Crimea, where local authorities confirmed one death in each area and multiple injuries. Separately, the Pskov region governor reported drone activity involving over 30 units. These attacks are part of an ongoing Ukrainian effort to strike energy infrastructure deep within Russian territory to disrupt war-related revenues.
