Rescue operation underway after migrant shipwreck near Samos

A search and rescue operation was launched on the night of Friday, July 3, 2026, following reports of a shipwreck involving migrants in the Mesaria area near Samos. While the exact location of the sinking is reported near the Turkish side, the Turkish Coast Guard has successfully rescued 34 individuals.
