Olympiacos signs Swedish defender Zinedin Smailovic

Olympiacos has reached a definitive agreement to sign 22-year-old Swedish central defender Zinedin Smailovic from the Norwegian club Sandefjord. The transfer fee is reported at 5 million euros. Smailovic, who stands at 1.91 meters, is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Greek club. He is scheduled to travel to the Netherlands on July 4, 2026, to undergo medical examinations and join the team's training camp. The defender is intended to serve as backup to Panagiotis Retsos, while David Carmo and Lorenzo Pirola are expected to play as left-sided center-backs. Isidoros Koutsidis remains with the team in the Netherlands as the fifth center-back option for head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar.
