China to open first fully robotic hotel in 2027
Pudu Robotics, based in Shenzhen, has announced plans to launch the world's first fully robotic hotel by 2027. Located on the western artificial island of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link in Guangdong province, the facility will manage all operations, including reception, check-in, cleaning, room service, and food preparation, without human staff. The project is a collaboration between Pudu Robotics and the Shenzhen Culture & Tourism Industry Development. A preliminary testing phase for the public is scheduled for late 2026, offering limited services and rooms. The artificial island itself opened to the public in December 2025. The initiative aims to create a tourism and technology hub, demonstrating an integrated ecosystem of automated services. This project expands on existing smaller-scale uses of robotics in the Chinese hospitality industry.
