Government denies cabinet offers to DISY officials amid upcoming reshuffle
Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis has officially denied that the government offered ministerial positions to Democratic Rally (DISY) members Nikos Tornaritis, Elena Kousiou, and Polys Kourousidis. While dismissing reports of ministerial offers, Letymbiotis confirmed that the government reached out to Kousiou to discuss potential collaboration in a non-ministerial capacity. He clarified that the discussion did not involve the presidency of the Cyprus Land Development Corporation (KOG), as that position is currently open for public application. Kousiou confirmed she received an outreach but declined due to her party's position in opposition. Reports also suggested that President Nikos Christodoulides has been attempting to broaden his government's support base by engaging DISY figures. Simultaneously, the Democratic Party (DIKO) is demanding a more significant role in decision-making and government structure, with a high-level meeting between President Christodoulides and DIKO leader Nikolas Papadopoulos scheduled for this coming Friday. DIKO representatives emphasize that they seek institutional dialogue rather than just specific appointments.
