Former Omonoia president Doros Serafeim passes away at 75
Doros Serafeim, a long-time administrative figure in Cypriot football and former president of Omonoia, passed away in the early hours of July 5, 2026. Serafeim served as the club's president from 2000 to 2008 and later returned to lead the organization from 2013 to 2016 to address critical financial challenges. During his primary tenure, Omonoia won two league championships in 2001 and 2003, one cup in 2005, and three domestic shields in 2001, 2003, and 2005. Prior to his presidency, he served as vice-president and head of the football department starting in 1996, contributing to a cup victory in 2000. Both his home club, Omonoia, and their traditional rivals, APOEL, issued official statements mourning his loss. APOEL honored his long-standing contribution to the development of modern football in Cyprus despite the sporting rivalry between the two sides. The death of the prominent football official has drawn condolences from across the Cypriot sports community.
