47-year-old man intubated following assault in Ayia Napa
A 47-year-old Turkish Cypriot man is currently intubated and in serious but stable condition at the Nicosia General Hospital. Police discovered the victim injured on a street in Ayia Napa around 6 a.m. on Sunday following a tip-off. He was initially transported to the Famagusta General Hospital, where medical examinations revealed a brain haemorrhage and a skull base fracture. Due to the severity of these injuries, he was transferred to the capital for specialized treatment. Police investigations, led by the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department (CID), have secured testimony indicating he was assaulted by a group of unidentified individuals. Tufan Erhurman, a Turkish Cypriot leader, confirmed that authorities are in contact with the victim's family and are monitoring both the medical progress and the legal investigation. Authorities have confirmed that the victim will remain in the Republic of Cyprus for treatment.
