Jewelry stolen from Lalique museum in France
Approximately 20 pieces of jewelry were stolen from the Lalique Museum in Wingen-sur-Moder, France, during a break-in at 05:30 on Sunday. Masked perpetrators forced entry through a door and shattered six display cases to access the collection. Investigators estimate the value of the stolen crystal jewelry to be several million euros, potentially reaching four million. Although security alarms were triggered, police were notified by a cleaning staff member who arrived at the scene before the security company completed their verification process. The museum, which showcases the work of René Lalique, has announced it will remain closed for several days for security improvements. Local authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspects. This incident follows a major heist at the Louvre last October, raising broader concerns regarding security protocols at French museums.
