Seaplane makes hard landing in New York City's East River
On Saturday evening, a seaplane operated by Acadian Seaplanes in partnership with Blade Air performed a hard landing in the East River of New York City. The aircraft, which was carrying eight passengers, became semi-submerged following the impact with the water. Passenger video footage captured the moment of the landing, showing occupants in distress as the plane struck waves. The pilots instructed passengers to remain calm and prepare life vests during the incident. A 16-year-old passenger named Chloe Todd reported that her grandmother, Ada, sustained injuries to her ribs, back, and head during the event. The operating companies attributed the difficult landing to turbulent water conditions caused by a storm and the wake of passing vessels.
