Anorthosis Famagusta volleyball department announces strategic plans for upcoming season
Makis Kontos, head of the Anorthosis Famagusta volleyball department, has outlined the club's strategy for the new season. The primary focus remains the integration of 5-6 youth players, aged 17 to 20, into the first team after years of training. The club has appointed Mauro Rus as the new head coach, citing his proven experience in developing young athletes as a key factor in his selection. Despite the focus on youth development, the club maintains that its core objective remains competing for championships and honors in all tournaments. Kontos addressed the broader challenges in the sport, such as declining participation, advocating for increased investment in youth academies. Furthermore, the Cyprus Sports Organization has approved funding for upgrades to the Themistokleio sports center. These improvements include replacing the floor and lighting, installing a new scoreboard, and implementing a CCTV security system.
