Arrest made following armed robbery attempt at Larnaca jewelry store

On the morning of Monday, a 73-year-old jewelry store owner in Larnaca was injured after resisting an armed robbery attempt by a suspect disguised as a food delivery worker. The perpetrator, wearing a motorcycle helmet and a delivery vest, struck the victim on the head with a firearm, requiring the owner to receive stitches. The owner managed to force the assailant out of the shop before he fled in a waiting vehicle. Police identified and arrested a 33-year-old foreign national on Tuesday following the discovery of the getaway car at a block of flats in Larnaca at 7 p.m. During a search of the suspect's residence, authorities recovered ammunition and evidence linked to the attempted robbery. The suspect faces multiple charges, including conspiracy, attempted robbery, illegal firearm possession, and assault. A second individual is currently being sought by the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department in connection with the case.
