Attempted armed robbery at a jewelry store in Larnaca
On Monday morning at approximately 9:00 am, an unknown assailant attempted to rob a jewelry store in the Drosia area of Larnaca. The suspect, wearing a long-sleeved black top, a food delivery vest, and a full-face motorcycle helmet, entered the shop and threatened the 73-year-old owner with a handgun. The owner resisted the robbery and pushed the attacker out of the premises, during which the suspect struck the victim on the head with the weapon, causing a laceration. The assailant then fled in a waiting vehicle driven by another unknown accomplice, who is suspected by authorities to possibly be a foreign national. The victim was transported to a hospital where he received stitches for his injury and is expected to be discharged soon. Larnaca CID has cordoned off the area and is conducting forensic examinations as part of an active investigation. The robbery was unsuccessful, and police are currently working to identify both individuals involved.
