Eurostat reports 2025 trends in European housing market sales
According to data published by Eurostat, home sales in Cyprus increased by 3.8% in 2025, following a 1.1% decrease in 2024. Across the 18 European Union countries with available data, most nations recorded an increase in home sales. Only Croatia (-4.1%), Bulgaria (-2.5%), and Poland (-1.1%) saw declines in 2025. Conversely, Slovenia (+29.9%), Lithuania (+22.8%), and Austria (+21.4%) recorded the highest growth rates. This marks a shift from 2024, when home sales fell in six countries and rose in 12. During 2024, the largest declines occurred in Slovenia (-17.7%), Croatia (-13.9%), and France (-9.4%). Meanwhile, Luxembourg (+47.1%), Hungary (+34.8%), and the Netherlands (+17%) led the market in 2024. While local reports indicated a separate 27% increase in Cyprus property sales specifically during June, this is distinct from the annual Eurostat figures.
