DISY leader holds talks with OEB regarding pension reform
President of the Democratic Rally (DISY) Annita Dimitriou met with the leadership of the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) to discuss pension reform. The meeting follows previous consultations held with the SEK trade union. Dimitriou emphasized the necessity of increasing low and middle-tier pensions while maintaining the long-term sustainability of the Social Insurance Fund. She stated that any reform must be approached holistically to protect public finances and ensure economic stability. Dimitriou indicated that the views of DISY and OEB are aligned on the matter. She also highlighted that the current proposal remains under public discussion and has not yet been formally submitted to the Parliament as a bill. A key point of the discussion involved the potential inclusion of the second pillar, specifically Provident Funds, in the upcoming legislation. Dimitriou stressed that the government's official proposal is still awaited to clarify the scope of the reforms.
