Cyprus launches new digital service for residence permit renewals
The Deputy Ministry of Migration and the Deputy Ministry of Research and Innovation in Cyprus have launched a new digital platform for residence permit renewals. This service is available to third-country nationals legally residing in the country, as well as their employers and authorized representatives such as law firms. The platform supports renewals for temporary permits, including salaried and domestic work, foreign company employees, family reunification, and long-term residence. It does not currently support initial permit applications. Through this portal, users can submit documents, track application status, pay fees, and select service points for permit collection. Physical attendance remains mandatory for biometric data collection and signature verification. The government expects this system to handle 73 per cent of renewals in these categories and up to 25 per cent of all total residence permit applications once fully implemented. This initiative is part of an ongoing strategy to modernize public services through digital transformation.
