Cyprus launches new digital service for residence permit renewals
On July 6, 2026, the Deputy Ministry of Migration and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy launched a new digital service for third-country nationals in Cyprus. The platform allows for the electronic submission of applications for the renewal of specific residence permits, including those for salaried employment, domestic work, foreign interest company employees, family reunification, and long-term residence. This service is currently limited to renewals and does not support initial residence permit applications. Users, including employers and authorized representatives like law firms, can upload documents, pay fees, track application status, and select service points online. Physical presence remains mandatory only for specific tasks, such as the collection of biometric data and signature verification. Deputy Minister of Migration Dr. Nicholas Ioannides stated the initiative aims to reduce bureaucracy and modernize services. Once fully operational, the system is expected to manage approximately 73 percent of renewal applications and up to 25 percent of all residence permit cases.
