Netanyahu urges US to block advanced arms sales to Turkey
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally requested that the United States refrain from selling advanced weapons, specifically F-35 fighter jets and F110 engines, to Turkey. This appeal comes amid reports that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering Turkey's reentry into the F-35 program and the potential sale of engine components. Netanyahu argued that such a sale would disrupt the regional balance of power, which currently relies on Israel's aerial superiority. He further criticized the Turkish leadership, accusing it of ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and threatening Israel's territorial integrity. Israeli concerns are amplified by the inclusion of navigation technology produced by the Israeli company Elbit in the aircraft systems. Tensions have recently escalated following remarks by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, which were strongly condemned by the Israeli government. The United States has not yet confirmed the final terms of the potential arms deal, and no formal meeting between Netanyahu and Trump regarding this issue has been scheduled to date.
