Commissioner for administration presents 2024 annual report to President Christodoulides
The Commissioner for Administration and Protection of Human Rights, Maria Stylianou-Lottidi, met with President Nikos Christodoulides on Monday to present the 2024 annual reports. The documents cover the activities of the Office of the Commissioner, the Equality Body, and the National Preventive Mechanism against Torture. According to the report, the office managed 4,655 complaints and investigations in 2024, of which 2,507 were new cases. A total of 2,709 cases were closed during the year, averaging approximately 260 cases per month. A key focus of the discussion was the newly activated Independent Mechanism for Monitoring Compliance of Co-funded Programs with the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. This mechanism ensures that co-funded projects align with EU fundamental rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The meeting underscored the increased workload and the ongoing operational capacity of the institution in protecting human rights.
