Fourteen-year-old boy charged with murder of Lily-Ann Jones in Wales
On June 22, the body of 14-year-old Lily-Ann Jones was discovered in Duffryn Park in Blaina, South Wales. The teenager had been reported missing by her parents two days earlier on June 20. A forensic examination by Caroline Saunders determined the cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso. A 14-year-old boy from the Blaenau Gwent area has been charged with her murder. The defendant first appeared in court on June 29 and was remanded into custody. During a hearing at Gwent Crown Court on July 6, the judge, Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, scheduled the trial to begin on November 23. The trial is expected to last approximately four weeks. The accused, described by police as a white British male, has not yet entered a plea regarding the charge.
