Electricity Authority of Cyprus to install LED lighting in national guard camps
On July 6, 2026, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense to upgrade lighting systems across National Guard camps. The project involves the procurement, installation, and eight-year maintenance of approximately 4,400 LED luminaires. These units will replace existing high-pressure sodium lamps, with completion scheduled for the spring of 2027. This initiative is the second phase of a joint effort between the two organizations to improve energy efficiency. The upgrade is expected to reduce electricity consumption for lighting by more than 65 percent. In addition to cost savings, the project aims to lower carbon dioxide emissions and support environmental conservation goals. The operational readiness of the National Guard remains a priority throughout the implementation of these upgrades.
