Passenger traffic increases at Ercan airport in the first half of 2026
During the first half of 2026, the airport in Ercan (Tymbou) recorded a total of 2,804,138 passengers. This figure represents an 8.24% increase compared to the 2,590,576 passengers served during the same period in 2025. Aircraft traffic also grew, with 18,793 flights recorded, marking an 8.40% rise from the 17,336 flights handled in the first half of the previous year. May was the busiest month, with 514,151 passengers and 3,422 flights. The Republic of Cyprus considers the airport illegal as it is located in the Turkish-occupied northern part of the island.
