Bomb explosion outside nightclub in Limassol
On July 7, 2026, at approximately 3:30 AM, a low-powered homemade explosive device was detonated outside a nightclub located on Megalou Alexandrou Street in central Limassol. The building houses the provincial offices of the youth organization EDON and operates as a cultural centre known as 'To Steki'. The explosion damaged the building's entrance and a nearby parked vehicle, but no injuries were reported. Police Assistant Chief of Limassol, Lefteris Kyriakou, confirmed that the scene was cordoned off for investigation and that authorities are reviewing CCTV footage. The nightclub, which recently changed management, was closed at the time of the incident. Investigators are currently gathering evidence and taking statements to determine potential motives and identify the two individuals on a motorcycle captured by surveillance cameras. All possibilities regarding the perpetrators' motives remain open.
