Peter Leeuwenburgh's future remains uncertain at Apollon Limassol
Apollon Limassol goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh is participating in the team's training camp in the Netherlands, despite being told in May that he is not part of the club's plans for the upcoming season. The 32-year-old played as a starter in the recent friendly match against Ralde. The club is waiting for him to receive an offer from another team, as they do not intend to terminate his contract unilaterally. Reports indicate that the player's high salary is a significant obstacle, as he is reluctant to accept reduced wages. If Leeuwenburgh leaves, the club will seek a replacement goalkeeper, while currently relying on Philipp Kuhn and Constantinos Stylianou. Meanwhile, Sporting Director Makis Papaioannou is actively searching for a central defender due to Connor Goldson’s health issues, along with plans to sign a winger and a forward. Negotiations are also ongoing regarding Ali Jusef and Mjällby. The team is scheduled to play a second friendly match against Utrecht today at 17:00.
