Cyta acquires and upgrades RedMax data center in Nicosia
The telecommunications organization Cyta has announced an agreement to acquire the RedMax data center located in the Latsia industrial area. The project involves the gradual expansion and technical upgrade of the facility to meet rising market demands for cloud services and data hosting. According to Cyta, upon completion, this will become the largest company-owned data center in Cyprus. The facility will be designed to meet international standards for security, reliability, and high availability, incorporating physical and cybersecurity measures. It will also utilize renewable energy sources for a portion of its operational requirements. The first phase of the project is scheduled to commence commercial operations in early 2027. This investment aims to enhance Cyprus's position as a regional data hub by integrating the new facility with Cyta's existing data centers and international undersea cable network. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to support the country's technological and economic development.
