Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism launches Easter Villages initiative for 2027

The Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism has introduced the 'Easter Experiences and Activities Incentive Scheme 2027' to promote rural and mountainous tourism. Approved by the Council of Ministers last Wednesday, the program targets municipalities and communities along the 'Heartland of Legends' route. Ten locations will be selected to host experiential activities from Maundy Thursday through Thomas Sunday. Planned activities include traditional cooking, handicrafts, Epitaphios decoration, guided tours, and instruction in Byzantine music and iconography. Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis stated that the plan aims to strengthen local economies and preserve Cyprus's cultural identity. Participating communities may also organize stalls to sell local products. The initiative seeks to decentralize tourism by encouraging visits to rural and remote areas during the Easter season.
