Minister of Defense attends conscript induction ceremony

Cyprus Minister of Defense Vasilis Palmas visited the Christos Samaras military camp in Athalassa to oversee the induction of the 2026 conscript series. During the event, the Minister addressed the new recruits and their families, emphasizing that the National Guard will serve as their home for the duration of their 14-month service. Palmas stated that the military training will be methodical and intensive to meet the demands of the current era. He provided assurances that the respect for the personality of every conscript is considered non-negotiable and guaranteed. The Minister noted that instructors, including both non-commissioned and commissioned officers, are well-prepared to support the new soldiers. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Ministry continues to adapt the training and presence of conscripts to align with evolving modern conditions and challenges.
