Minister Mousiouttas addresses pension reform at Parliamentary Labour Committee

Minister of Labour Marinos Mousiouttas appeared before the Parliamentary Labour Committee to discuss the progress of the national pension reform. A central issue of the discussions remains the management of the state's 12 billion euro debt to the Social Insurance Fund. While the minister is seeking parliamentary support, social partners in the Labour Advisory Body expressed concern over not yet receiving the draft bill. There is growing apprehension that time for detailed study is limited due to the upcoming summer holidays. Minister Mousiouttas emphasized his commitment to proceeding with the reforms regardless of the position held by social partners. Following the session, the committee is scheduled to meet with the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Klea Hatzistefanou-Papaellina. The government aims to achieve consensus to facilitate the passing of the legislation.
