Diana Konstantinidi reveals her mother was a murder victim in 1993
Member of Parliament for the Direct Democracy party, Diana Konstantinidi, publicly revealed that her mother was murdered in 1993 by two men, identified in reports as Kita and Iakovidis. The disclosure followed a recent session of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee regarding the issue of femicide. During an appearance on the television program 'Mesimeri kai Kati', the MP characterized herself as a 'collateral loss' of such violence. She emphasized that the impact of losing a parent in such circumstances is a lifelong burden that extends beyond the legal processes of a case. Konstantinidi stressed the urgent need for support structures for children left behind by victims of violence. She credited her father and husband for providing the emotional strength and support necessary for her to move forward. The MP concluded by encouraging women to seek internal strength and to speak out against violence.
