Eurostat data on tourism seasonality in Cyprus and the EU for 2025

Eurostat released data on Tuesday regarding tourism seasonality across the European Union in 2025, highlighting trends in overnight stays. In Cyprus, a total of 5,580,873 overnight stays were recorded during the peak months of July (2,627,725) and August (2,953,148). Other significant months for Cyprus included September with 2,484,732 stays and October with 2,382,970, while activity dropped to 859,936 in November and 504,843 in December. Across the EU, July and August accounted for 31.1% of all annual overnight stays. Croatia recorded the highest seasonality, with 54.5% of annual stays occurring in those two months, followed by Bulgaria at 43.4% and Greece at 41.6%. Conversely, the lowest concentrations were in Malta (21.9%), Germany (24.0%), and Finland (24.1%). The report notes that tourism patterns are influenced by environmental factors like climate and geography, alongside social factors such as school holidays.
