Bank of Cyprus warns customers about telephone fraud
The Bank of Cyprus has issued an official warning regarding a telephone scam targeting its customers. Fraudsters are reportedly calling victims while impersonating bank staff from the customer service department. In some instances, the scammers use the legitimate Bank of Cyprus landline number, 22128000, to increase credibility. The perpetrators attempt to trick individuals into providing remote access to their devices or revealing sensitive information. This includes 1bank access credentials, one-time passwords, personal identification numbers, and payment card details. The bank explicitly states that it will never request this information through unsolicited calls. Customers are advised to hang up immediately if they receive such a communication. This alert was published across official bank social media channels to raise public awareness about the ongoing security threat.
