Visa launches new cyber threat intelligence platform for financial institutions

Visa has officially announced the launch of the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform (VTIP), a solution designed to help financial institutions identify and mitigate cyber threats. The platform integrates cybersecurity and payments intelligence to detect potential fraud risks that stem from data compromises, credential theft, or system exploitation. By leveraging technology used in Visa's global network, the tool aims to protect payment ecosystems including merchants, issuers, and processors. Visa reports that it currently blocks approximately 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing emails each month. Micheal Ioannides, Country Manager for Visa in Cyprus, stated that the platform allows for more precise responses to threats before they result in financial losses. While reports from Greece cited Nikos Petrakis as the representative, the initiative serves the broader financial sector. The launch was officially noted in Nicosia on July 7, 2026.
