Central Bank of Cyprus reports increase in bounced checks for June 2026

Data from the Central Bank of Cyprus shows 16 bounced checks were issued in June 2026, totaling 37,188 euros, compared to 13 checks worth 28,296 euros in June 2025. This follows a figure of 12 checks totaling 13,048 euros recorded in June 2024. For the first half of 2026, a total of 25 bounced checks worth 94,551 euros were registered, whereas the same period in 2025 saw 50 checks worth 84,555 euros. These incidents involved 58 entities, consisting of 39 legal and 19 natural persons. In June 2026 specifically, 10 individuals and entities were added to the Central Information Registry for bounced checks. This group included four legal persons, one natural person, and five natural persons controlling legal entities. Over the first six months of 2026, a total of 60 parties were added to the registry, a decrease from 113 recorded in the first half of 2025.
