Police officers arrested after shooting 20-year-old in Argos
A 20-year-old man is in critical condition at Thriassio Hospital after being shot in the back of the head by police during a vehicle pursuit in Argos. The incident began when the driver failed to stop for a police check and attempted to flee, allegedly ramming patrol cars. Police claim the suspect also discarded a replica pistol during the chase. Upon being cornered in a supermarket parking lot, the suspect abandoned his vehicle and attempted to climb a wall on foot. Two police officers opened fire, claiming they initially shot into the air, though the suspect sustained a critical head injury. The bullet could not be removed by doctors. The two officers involved have been arrested and face charges of weapon violations and causing grievous bodily harm. A disciplinary investigation and a preliminary inquiry by the Nafplio Police Department are currently underway to determine the circumstances of the shooting.
