Flight instructor jumps from Cessna 150 in Argentina
On July 6, 2026, an aviation incident occurred near Toledo, Argentina, involving a Cessna 150 training aircraft. A 22-year-old student pilot was left alone in the cockpit after her 42-year-old instructor, Leandro Bertazzo, intentionally jumped from the plane. According to the student's report, Bertazzo removed his headset, secured his belongings, unbuckled his seatbelt, and opened the cabin door before exiting mid-flight. Following the event, the student managed to land the aircraft safely at the airport. Emergency responders later discovered Bertazzo’s body in a rural area near the site of the jump. Eduardo Alvarez, the director of the Flying Parrot Cordoba flight school, commended the student pilot for maintaining professionalism during the emergency. Local authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the instructor's actions.
