Cyprus government approves summer residential program for disabled children in Troodos
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Council of Ministers of Cyprus approved a proposal from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works to provide two state-owned residences in the Troodos mountains for free use by registered charitable organizations. The initiative aims to facilitate summer holidays for children with disabilities, promoting social inclusion. Operating expenses for the properties will be covered by the Ministry's budget. Eligible organizations must be registered with the Registrar of Societies to apply. A three-member committee appointed by the Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafeadis, will review applications, with priority given to first-time applicants. Organizations must ensure safety protocols and property protection measures are in place. For the 2026 summer season, applications must be submitted by July 17, 2026, covering stay periods from July 31 to late September. Minister Vafeadis described the initiative as a step toward corporate social responsibility for the state.
