Cyprus vehicle registrations report for the first half of 2026
Data from the Statistical Service of Cyprus indicates that motor vehicle registrations grew by 13.2 percent in the first half of 2026, totaling 29,367 vehicles compared to 25,954 in the same period of 2025. Passenger saloon car registrations reached 22,597, with 7,245 new units and 15,352 used imports. Hybrid vehicles saw their market share climb to 51.7 percent, up from 43 percent in 2025. Conversely, the market share for petrol vehicles declined to 35.2 percent from 43.6 percent, and diesel vehicles dropped to 8.2 percent from 8.6 percent. Fully electric vehicles recorded a marginal increase, reaching a 4.9 percent share. Rental car registrations experienced an 11.8 percent decrease, falling to 2,487. Additionally, in June 2026 alone, total registrations were 5,624, representing a 13.8 percent rise compared to June 2025. Bus registrations reached 111 and cargo vehicle registrations totaled 3,510 during the first half of the year.
