Karaiskakio Foundation hosts annual steering committee meeting for the CARE FOR RARE project
The Karaiskakio Foundation held the annual meeting of the CARE FOR RARE project steering committee in Cyprus. Participants included representatives from the Swiss Embassy, the Swiss-Cyprus Cooperation Program, and various national stakeholders. The meeting involved a tour of temporary facilities currently providing clinical and support services for patients with rare diseases. Attendees reviewed progress reports covering the remainder of 2025 and the first half of 2026, focusing on governance, infrastructure, and financial planning. To date, the project has expanded genetic counseling, hired specialized healthcare staff, and organized interdisciplinary meetings. Outreach clinics have been established to improve access to care across Cyprus. These efforts aim to support patients until the permanent CARE FOR RARE Center is completed. The initiative continues to focus on public awareness and the strengthening of collaborations with local healthcare providers.
