Overview of recent fire incidents in Cyprus
Several fire incidents were reported across Cyprus between July 8 and July 10, 2026. On July 10, a forest fire in Pera Orinis destroyed 3.5 decares of land, olive trees, and a small agricultural building, requiring the intervention of the Forestry Department and the Fire Service. In Goudi, Paphos, a fire burning wild vegetation and trees was contained without the need for aerial support. Meanwhile, in Limassol, a fire broke out near the Sfalamioktissa cemetery, involving three fire engines and aerial support from two firefighting aircraft, with assistance from volunteer groups Support-CY and Atlas. Additionally, reports indicate a fire in Chrysochou where ground forces and two helicopters were deployed. Earlier, on July 8, an unattended cooking vessel caused a fire in a residential kitchen in Pegeia, resulting in extensive damage. Finally, a fire in Aglantzia, caused by burning paper in a barrel, damaged a motorcycle, another vehicle, and a fence. All incidents are under investigation by the relevant authorities.
