Ministry of Justice holds meeting on stadium security for the upcoming football season
On Wednesday, the Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order, Costas Fytiris, convened a meeting with key stakeholders to discuss security measures for the upcoming football season. Participants included representatives from the Stadium Licensing Authority, the Cyprus Police, the Cyprus Sports Organization, and the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection. Stadium owners and facility managers were also in attendance to ensure a coordinated approach to safety. The discussions centered on the implementation of the fan card system and the operation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance in stadiums. Officials emphasized the need to upgrade existing safety infrastructure and enhance coordination between public authorities and private venue managers. The objective of the meeting was to ensure that matches proceed smoothly and under strict safety conditions. The Minister reaffirmed that ensuring the safety of fans and athletes remains a government priority. Participants agreed to maintain close cooperation to improve monitoring systems and effectively enforce current legislation.
