Luka Jovic extends contract with AEK Athens until 2029
AEK Athens has officially reached an agreement with 28-year-old striker Luka Jovic to extend his contract until the summer of 2029. Jovic, who was the club's top scorer last season with 21 goals across all competitions, is set to become the highest-paid player in the league. As part of the new deal, the player's release clause has been doubled from 10 million euros to 20 million euros. The contract also stipulates that if another club triggers the 20 million euro buyout clause, a portion of the fee will be paid to Jovic himself. This arrangement aligns with terms established when the player originally joined the club in the summer of 2025. While local reports confirm the finalization of the deal, initial reports from some international outlets suggested the extension was only nearing completion. The formal agreement secures Jovic's position within the squad for the next several seasons.
