Cyprus Football Association announces 2026-2027 season details and judicial reforms
The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has announced the structure for the 2026-2027 season of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan, running from August 29-30, 2026, to May 22-23, 2027. The league will feature 14 teams, including APOEL, Omonia Nicosia, Anorthosis, and Pafos FC, playing a 26-round first phase followed by two groups. The top six teams will compete in the first group with double round-robin matches, while the bottom eight will play a single round-robin in the second group. Additionally, the Coca-Cola Cup format for 2026-2027 was released, featuring single-leg ties except for the semi-finals, with finalists and European-qualified teams exempt from the first phase. In a major administrative change, the CFA has abolished the single Sports Judge position, which had been in place since 2014. It will be replaced by a three-member Judicial Committee and a three-member Prosecutorial Committee, both appointed for two-year terms to modernize the judicial process. CFA spokesperson Konstantinos Siampoullis stated these changes aim to improve the administration of justice following years of debate.
