19-year-old arrested in Limassol following vehicle collision with police officer

On July 9 at 4:30 PM, a member of the Z-Team of the Limassol Traffic Police attempted to stop a pickup truck without license plates. The driver refused to stop, driving recklessly through a red light to flee the area. During the incident, the driver reversed the truck and struck the officer's service motorcycle. The officer fired three shots at the vehicle's tires, though the driver initially managed to escape. The officer was treated at Limassol General Hospital for minor injuries and subsequently discharged. Authorities identified a 19-year-old suspect through evidence collection. He was apprehended late at night near his residence in Limassol while attempting to flee upon seeing officers. He is now in police custody to facilitate the investigation.
