Cyprus House of Representatives honors late Sevgul Uludag, Nicos Siakolas, and Giorgos Tsalakos
President of the House of Representatives Annita Demetriou formally expressed the condolences of the Cypriot Parliament regarding the deaths of Sevgul Uludag, Nicos Siakolas, and Giorgos Tsalakos. During a plenary session, Demetriou highlighted the contributions of these individuals to Cypriot society. Sevgul Uludag was recognized for her extensive work as a journalist, author, and activist, particularly in uncovering the locations of mass graves to assist the Committee on Missing Persons. Her investigative efforts, which aimed to facilitate peace and reconciliation between the island's two communities, earned her an international reputation and a 2019 Nobel Peace Prize nomination. Nicos Siakolas was acknowledged for his influential role as a pioneering businessman in the contemporary Cypriot economy. Giorgos Tsalakos was also formally honored for his career as a journalist. These statements were made prior to the commencement of the scheduled parliamentary agenda. The parliament officially extended its sympathies to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
