Diplomatic update on the Cyprus issue and Turkey-Greece relations

The sources indicated that Ankara maintains its existing positions without any signs of a policy shift. Athens continues to monitor United Nations efforts to restart the negotiation process, reiterating that a solution must strictly adhere to established UN resolutions and the agreed-upon framework. Regarding the recent NATO summit, Greek officials emphasized that the Turkish 'casus belli' remains a formal threat of war. Athens maintains that this threat is not mitigated by the passage of time or public familiarity. The government stressed that the threat can only be neutralized by its definitive withdrawal. Consequently, Greece maintains that as long as this war threat persists, Turkey cannot participate in European defense initiatives such as the SAFE framework.
