Member states of the European Union are expected to appoint Stefani Loli Siailou as an advocate general at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) this Friday. Siailou, a professor of European law and dean of the law school at the University of Central Lancashire in Cyprus, is set to replace current CJEU judge Nicholas Emiliou. Her appointment will span the remainder of Emiliou’s term, concluding on October 6, 2027. Additionally, the mandate of CJEU President Koen Lenaerts is expected to be renewed for a new six-year term starting October 7, 2027, and ending October 6, 2033. The official announcement is scheduled for Friday. Siailou has declined to confirm the appointment prior to the formal election process, as reported by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) and MLex.
