US military delegation negotiates withdrawal from southern Lebanon

An American military delegation has arrived in Beirut to coordinate the implementation of a June 26 framework agreement involving an Israeli withdrawal from designated pilot zones in southern Lebanon. Amid these discussions, violence continues, with reports of Israeli strikes in the south; one incident in the coastal village of al-Mansouri resulted in seven injuries. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has called on the United States to exert pressure on Israel to facilitate the process. Meanwhile, Lebanese and Israeli officials remain in a complex diplomatic standoff regarding the sequence of the troop deployments.
