Production of action thriller Scorpion begins in Cyprus

Academy Award nominee Clive Owen is currently in Cyprus to film the high-stakes action thriller Scorpion, produced and financed by the Limassol-based company Copper Island. The production features a notable ensemble cast, including Alex Pettyfer, Reda Elazouar, Ronan Summers, Jake Ryan, Mark Rhino Smith, Joey Ansah, Alex Cooke, and Luke Bouchier. Filming commenced in Cyprus on July 6 and is scheduled to conclude in Bulgaria at the end of the month. According to the production team, the project maintains one of the largest per-day budgets for a film shot on the island. The plot follows Jason, a young police officer on his first mission with an elite unit of Afghanistan war veterans that turns into a trap at an isolated farmhouse. International sales will be managed by WestEnd Films, with initial promotional material debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival this September. Copper Island identifies this project as a key milestone in positioning Cyprus as a viable location for high-budget international film productions.
