Cyprus men's national team competes at EHF Beach Handball Championship in Zagreb

The EHF Beach Handball Championship 2026 is currently being held in Zagreb, Croatia, from July 9 to July 12. This tournament serves as the qualifying round for the EHF Beach Handball EURO 2027, with the top eight men's teams and top nine women's teams securing a spot in the final phase. The Cyprus men's national team, led by coach Andreas Andreou, is competing in Group A alongside Poland, Latvia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Switzerland. On the first day of the event, the Cypriot team faced Poland and suffered a 0-2 defeat (16-24, 20-21). However, the team later secured a 2-1 victory against Latvia following a shoot-out (16-14, 16-22, 6-10). The team is scheduled to play further matches against Turkey and Ukraine on Friday, followed by a match against Switzerland on Saturday. The tournament format includes two groups, with the top four teams from each advancing to the quarterfinals.
