Manchester United plans for a new stadium near Old Trafford
Manchester United is planning the construction of a new 100,000-seat stadium located 350 meters from the current Old Trafford venue. While the historic site has served the club for 115 years, current plans envision a broader redevelopment project. The initiative includes the development of 15,000 new homes, the creation of 48,000 jobs, and an estimated economic contribution of 8.5 billion euros to the United Kingdom. Foster and Partners has been selected to collaborate on the architectural design. Public consultation with fans will occur in the coming months, with a formal presentation of the project expected by the end of 2026. Tom Ross, leader of the Trafford Council, confirmed that the project will proceed regardless of the municipal election results scheduled for July 30, 2026. While some reports emphasize the preservation of identity, the club is actively evaluating the site transition.
