Giorgos Pamboridis announces interest in DISY presidential nomination for 2028

Former Minister of Health and current MP Giorgos Pamboridis has expressed his intention to seek the DISY party nomination for the 2028 presidential elections. During an interview on an ANT1 podcast, Pamboridis identified himself, Annita Demetriou, and Averof Neofytou as the primary potential candidates for the internal party contest. He stated that while he believes he possesses the necessary qualifications to serve as President of the Republic, he acknowledges that he lacks the level of access currently enjoyed by Demetriou and Neofytou. Regarding recent parliamentary elections, Pamboridis noted that the party received critical support from Nicosia, which he described as a final warning from voters. He also raised serious allegations regarding attempts to undermine his previous political candidacy. The process to determine a nominee involves both theoretical and practical assessments of one's ability to hold the office. No official party nomination process has been formally launched by the leadership yet. His public statements have added complexity to the existing internal dynamics within DISY.
